Quests

  • Lumihealth 3.0 introduces the concept of a Quest as its core mechanic

  • Quests are multi week programs that help users achieve specific health goals

  • Quests can take many shapes and span from casual topics like “Take a Breather” to clinical topics like “Managing Diabetes”

  • My task was to create a re-usable framework of components that would enable our content team to create 12+ Quests at and after launch

  • I designed experiences like setting your goals, finding and joining a Quest, completing challenges and earning points / coins, moving from week to week and more

Incentives, points and coins

  • Another big focus for me was defining the points and coins framework

  • Points are earned through challenges and help users make progress for the week

  • Coins are earned by hitting milestones on the Lumihealth Ring

  • I defined how users earn points, how their weekly goal is set, how coins are awarded throughout the Lumihealth Ring and UX for users to redeem their coins for e-vouchers

  • Over time I’ve continued to manage this budget, introduce new earning mechanisms and refine the points scheme to achieve our internal goals

Celebrations

  • Another core element of the experience is celebrations

  • Users are celebrated when completing actions

  • Celebrations are a key part of behavior change so we focused on celebrating the right moments with the right intention and intensity

  • I worked with our visual design team to create a robust framework for celebrations including celebrations inside the Lumihealth Ring, full screen overlays, toasts for moments where a user might be busy and notifications

Personalized activity challenges

  • As part of our expansions beyond MVP we focused on “meeting users where they are” by ensuring that challenge goals can be personalized to each user

  • We (along with engineering and data science) developed a Quest that pushes users to “Beat your personal best”

  • This experience personalizes the workout type, duration and weekly frequency to push users towards goals that are a touch above their average over recent history

  • Additionally we were able to build a number of dynamic copy fields to ensure the content experiences matches the user’s expectations
